The staff are working on making the hot air balloons accessible, I'm also glad I'm not the only one that thought this >.<

There's also a cliff/mountain next to spawn that you could glide off of for the time being
I've seen people use it that way before, I thought it was pretty creative.

A quick solution could be a pressure plate opposite of the trading post plate at spawn. It could zip you up to the top of the mountain or another high point. Just as a middle-ground so the staff can work in peace
