Mine was more if a battle aftermath then strange. Another situation that I can come up with an explanation for is when one time a really shitty base had specific tunnels taking random turns for no good reason, they went by lots of ore but all untouched, the loot the base had were diamonds and emmarld so i speculate it was x-ray use

I saw some player tracks in the form pf potion effect arrows, there were signs pf explosions and the trail of arrows suddenly ended. The particle effect of the arrows were a deep sky blue. Dunno what it all was but i scouted around and followed the trail off to find a player made tunnel and loot. I suppose a fight happened.

@jamlbon I forget about eating usally and only eat when i notice due to inability to sprint or when I've sustained damage and need to max the food bar for the regen.
Usually this means my daily half stack of magic meat lasts not so much in the holidays when I've been on pretty much all day but i now have a surplus of food so it's irrelevant
