You need to head the "Installations" Tab and add a new version from there.
This tab should be in the top right/middle of your launcher right next to other tabs such as "Play" and "Patch notes".

Nah I had the same issue I went into the nether and had, according to crafty, 65 ish pigmen swarming me and even he couldn't kill them fast enough before they just respawned lol. Been agroed for the past week. Praying for 1.14.3

Heyo this is one for all the Mob Farm and whatnot people:
Server render distance is 6 chunks right? So what exactly does that mean? Does that mean the server renders 6 chunks in EVERY direction as in 6 chunks north, south, east and west or does that mean its a 6x6 Chunk Grid with the player in the middle? or is it a 7x7 with that middle chunk for the player? (A) or (B) ? Or if both are wrong feel free to correct :D (asking so i can maximize efficiency)

Kind of agree at this point. Even if 1.14.3 turns out to solve current major issues we are still left with the minor bugs and problems they wont ever prioritize or get around to. It seems for every fire mojang manages to extinguish two more pop up. Who is to say that history wont repeat itself?
Still I am no expert so I dont know the possible negatives of spigot, but with what I understand now it just seems best all around to head for safer waters.

Atleast the 1.14.3 Prerlease looks promising. Seems to solve quite a few of the major issues.
