Right now it's like that but in the future film companies will realize that it is much cheaper to just use CGI for the whole movie rather than having actual actors.

The thing is... Diamonds are too valuable to use as currency (At least for most people) This is due to the fact that so many things can be crafted from them. People as a result just stockpile them and become rich without ever spending them.
