    @Stone__Warrior The current world format doesn't allow for that many blocks - that's why not too many blocks are being introduced. However, by 1.14, they're rewriting the blockstates code along with some other save format stuff to make it compatible with all the new blocks. There's a post somewhere on Reddit about it.

    There is no limit to the number of blocks to be saved, as they are loaded in chunks devided in region files - you can have as many region files as you want with as many blocks as you want.
    Blockstates have to be re written (or just updated like what's going to happen as far as I know) every time a new block is added.
    The reason not many blocks are being added has been stated by the developers long ago, that being that updates from 1.10 to 1.14 would be reasonabily faster but containing less features.

    The world saving format is changing in 1.14 ;)
