Im reading Neil deGrasse Tyson's book
Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries

Neil tyson is a pretty awesome man , i love all his interviews also , and the cosmos series .
Startalk radio is his podcast if you havent listened to it pretty awesome , normally has him and a comedian and a special guest dealing with different subjects ,mostly science of course.
+bill nye is a host sometimes :D

i had exact error , what worked for me was using http://launcher.mojang.com/mc/launcher/win/703e21de391ba20ebee6fae3a694d0b7514febb5/MinecraftLauncher.exe
which was listed in the nativelog.txt with the error . gl

p.s. i would do a full delete then reinstall from this link , or atleast thats the steps i did .
backup any logs or ss u wanna keep of course first.

Alot of people have been having issues after the launcher update recently , many which are different .
Also try running as administrator just to see if that helps some issues it does and some it doesn't , guessing you are not getting any sort of error hm , have you checked task manager to see if it is actually running in the background ? any antivirus or firewall possibly blocking it from opening ?
