I like the idea, just make sure that the memes are appropriate :)

There are plenty of things to do. You can gather resources and sell them, you can explore, you can try and make friends, you can practice you pvp skills, etc. The list goes on and on and is ever evolving as the server economy shifts and time passes. Another thought is maybe you can practice building styles and try and put your own spin on it. I'm a terrible builder as well, but I'm working on it, so don't worry there is hope :)

I don't think they're really worth anything now that nautilus shells aren't as rare now. I personally though think that for personal use they are great for underwater building as it gives you unlimited air.
