It has to do with the string used to stop the vines from growing down. In 1.11.2 you were able to place vines below string, but now you can't. It wouldn't be such a big deal if we didn't cause block updates that would remove the vines, however, the vines themselves cause their own block updates when they try to grow. This causes any of the vines that are loaded and have string above them to randomly disappear.

@2Chill This seems like a very well thought out plan to minimize casualties so to speak, and try to meet everyone's needs and expectations equally , just curious did you send out a email to let everyone know ?

It's just checking to see if it can connect to mojangs servers, it's not checking if they are working. While mojang is down, they still respond to requests, but just don't give the expected answer.

As long as you get within a few chunks of the things you want to keep, they won't get reset. When the chunks get deleted, they will become regenerated from the same seed. All dimensions will be reset the same way, however, the end will not be cleared up to 5k.
