@_Haxington_ The 32x32 textures will not help performance... If anything they will make it worse.
Felt the need to confirm this to ensure the point is heard.
Using a 32x32 resource pack will actually decrease performance over the default 16x16 pack.
@_Confederacy_ This issue with @iDogeTwinkie and "knobhead" is a good example
I didn't know knobhead was slang for dickhead until today :)
This leaves me with a question:
Who the fuck sits on their fat ass and comes up with these pointless slang words? The "streetwise lingo" that people use sounds like something a damn 3 year old would come up with.
It really depends on location, where I'm from calling someone a knobhead would be a common enough insult.
That's the issue with slang it's often fuzzy and hard to define, it evolves with trends.
@_Haxington_ The reason I brought it up is that some players may have had their usernames for a long time and in my opinion it is not reasonable to ask them to simply change it because it may or may not be offensive to one person out of hundreds
I'm not saying there should not be chat moderation, I just believe that it should only be enforced when absolutely necessary
I'd be surprised if they have had a name a long time without someone else disputing it.
The situation above does not exist however, like baron said if the reference is vague enough and no one complains we usually let it slide however if we receive complaints which we often do then it's perfectly reasonable to ask a name to be changed. Everyone else has to follow the rules after all and ensure that chat is an inclusive, non offensive and child friendly place.
We tend to have a stricter chat moderation standard than certain other vanilla servers since we cater to a large audience and have a lot of children and families playing the game.
Therefore lightly moderating chat and only touching when absolutely necessary isn't really an option.
Staff use reasonable judgement as to whether a word could be interpreted in an insulting or otherwise offensive manner. Like Baron said in the case of grey areas to which you seem to be referring, we usually let it slide unless someone complains. In which case we usually ask them to change depending on the nature of the complaint. We don't always side with the complainer but we do look at other sources to help decide on whether their name could be reasonably interpreted as offensive or controversial by players.
It's absolutely necessary to maintain the chat moderation so I don't know why you are asking that.
You could put the IP on the sleeve of the arms on the shirt in small text.
@_Drachenzorn_ Haha, why am I not surprise about this counter from the high and mighty R4. Why? Is it bad now to express opinions. I said "I dont care" that means I can live with it and still play if CM enable or disable it.
I mean why do you feel the need for personal attacks here, I understand you may be upset that things didn't go your way but that doesn't excuse rudeness.
No one is suppressing opinions, we encourage discussion in both directions which means people like me and other can express opinions that may contradict your own or supply the reasoning behind certain decisions.
I'm glad you clarified however since it is misleading when you claim to not care and yet are discussing the very topic. I'm sorry that it affects your gameplay adversely but this community needs to cater for everyone not just a subset of users with opinions on what a vanilla experience is and ultimately technical concerns override the desire of some members in this case.
@_Drachenzorn_ For the past couple of weeks, Ive been playing in another vanilla server with mob grief ON. But they dont have issue on dragons or anything. Though I also dont know what strategy they do to make their spawn or the end main island clear of mob griefing.
And definitely mob grief gives a lot of thrill and new possibilities in gameplay. But thats me. I dont actually care if CM enable or disable it cause Ive been enjoying that feature in another server.
I mean if you don't care why are you informing of this then ?
There is reasons it's been disabled and they are listed above. Other servers may deal with it in a different way Eg: Disbabling the end dragon or using /kill commands on a repeating basis but that isn't suited to CM.
@SharpSerac my friends and i have been through this before with "bk randy" which means "bad kid random" but they want to think that randy (which can also be someone's name) means "sexually aroused." maybe we should just ban the use of richard's name because "dick" is short for "richard" and dick is a sexual term
Which means bad kid random according to who?
The fact is the word can be reasonably interpreted in a negative and insulting context and therefore it is banned. The same condition does not apply to the word Richard which is a standard name.
Your definition may differ but staff using sound judgement have decided based on available dictionary sources that the word is an insult and have therefore banned it.
@iDogeTwinkie You should educate yourself on what word arrogance means, then you'll know.
Until then we ain't talking to each other or actually ever. I'm getting enough of that bullshit.
This is a pretty silly argument, I can't stop you ignoring facts thats your right but we don't have to tolerate your insistence that you are correct despite either facts either.
So unless you have an actual valid complaint with evidence this thread is being locked.
So what?
You don't trust dictionaries and therefore can make up your own meanings for words?
Quite frankly what your aunt taught you is pretty much irrelevant in the wider context, since the standard usage of the word Knob head is too insult someone and you even knew that since as baron said you were hardly calling someone a door Knob where you?
Do you have any evidence of this supposed arrogance?
Examples?
Like your whole post it's just been empty rhetoric and 5 year old logic, 'this is true because I say so'.
