This is what I would like to see as well. This is also what I think the original plan was. However, I don't know that it's going to work this way. Staff is working really hard to get the new server ready. They've been working on it for months now. With official news about a new server, many people have quit playing the current server. The longer this period of waiting goes on the more users will drift away to other things. In order to mitigate this it's best that the new server go up as soon as possible. However, sooner means less accurate information about when the server will go up and also the possibility that when it does go up it won't be as stable and lag free as we would like.

Personally, I would prefer staff take their time and make everything perfect. I'm sure that they will try. Optimistically players will come back even if it's a long wait, and by some miracle we'll have a stable and fair start to the new server. Pessimistically we should prepare for an unfair start to the new server. It's likely there will be some warning given. Maybe not enough for all of us. It's also possible that even when when it does there will be issues. 1.9 is officially released but it's still got bugs. Yes many of the more serious ones like the one with end portals teleporting you into the void have been patched, but there's still performance issues as far as I know.

Do you have some sort of super natural healing ability? It would suck to choose the first option and die in the first year.

I'm very interested in what the 1.9 villager trades will be. Any chance that I can get involved in the planning? I tried to get the conversation rolling with my trade proposal (updated) . Can we please have public info from @baronbattlebread or whoever is organizing the villager trades on what the plan is. Once the server is open and people are actively trading it may be too late for players to give feedback and for adjustments to be made.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is very intersted in what the new villager trades will be. There's been many posts on this topic before this one on the forum.

In vanilla anyone can summon the dragon as long as they've crafted a few cheap ender crystals. I'm not sure how you are planning to prevent that. People will want the xp from the dragon as well as the dragon's breath.

I'd be fine with no gapples too. I want an unenchanted golden apple trade from rodney though.

@CraftyMyner As of now, we will be giving at least a week of notice after mojang tells us the release date before we make any changes regarding 1.9.

I want to reiterate my appreciation for this, and that I'm looking forward to specific enough info that I can ask for time off from work.

So by my math a full server bill costs 3,456 diamond blocks or 87 beacons. Full Server bill is a $200 value, which means each beacon is worth around $2.30.
