Also don't make the spawn end portal active until the enderdragon has been slain once via stronghold entrance you know so we can still have the race to kill the dragon at the start of the map

@CraftyMyner As of now, we will be giving at least a week of notice after mojang tells us the release date before we make any changes regarding 1.9.

I want to reiterate my appreciation for this, and that I'm looking forward to specific enough info that I can ask for time off from work.

I cannot wait to see new spawn! Maybe we can turn it into a sort of competition? Players can design their own Spawn and the one the admins like the best will be incorporated into the new server. Idk just throwing

While I like the idea of starting new, this kinda makes me sad in that our community is probably going to be split between the servers. Not that the answers will affect my decision, I had two general questions:

1. Will the anticipated reduction in lag/efficiency in data control translate to a larger map (250K x 250k or even 1M x 1M)?

2. What do you think of players that move to the new server getting something to show their history with Crafty Mynes and a consolation item for starting new again? Like a unique, named trophy or something that we can put in our new base.

Dude, thats WAY to much. All these wings do is allow you to glide around. I think it should be 15 votes, if Elytras are even going to be sold for votes.

Its rare item though.
Its not really survival if you can just buy every rare item rock bottom cheap at spawn.

This is what I would like to see as well. This is also what I think the original plan was. However, I don't know that it's going to work this way. Staff is working really hard to get the new server ready. They've been working on it for months now. With official news about a new server, many people have quit playing the current server. The longer this period of waiting goes on the more users will drift away to other things. In order to mitigate this it's best that the new server go up as soon as possible. However, sooner means less accurate information about when the server will go up and also the possibility that when it does go up it won't be as stable and lag free as we would like.

Personally, I would prefer staff take their time and make everything perfect. I'm sure that they will try. Optimistically players will come back even if it's a long wait, and by some miracle we'll have a stable and fair start to the new server. Pessimistically we should prepare for an unfair start to the new server. It's likely there will be some warning given. Maybe not enough for all of us. It's also possible that even when when it does there will be issues. 1.9 is officially released but it's still got bugs. Yes many of the more serious ones like the one with end portals teleporting you into the void have been patched, but there's still performance issues as far as I know.

Can't wait to get started in 1.9 if only to save me from LifeLongStew's questions: When will Crafty move to 1.9? Will we still have our base? Will Dawn still be an admin? Will we still have our rainbow? Will Crafty need new staff? What will happen to spawn? Where will the villagers be in the new spawn? Do you think Crafty will kill the Ender Dragon? Will admins still be allowed to fly? Why hasn't Crafty made the 1.9 server yet? Has he done it now? Has he done it now? Why does it take so long? Will I still be a VIP? Will Dawn still look the same? What happens if Dawn doesn't look the same and I think she is a raider and I try and kill her, will I get banned? What about the banned people will they still be banned...

(NB: The only admin he recognises is Dawn).
