I have downloaded the newest version of java on my new cpu. After downloading Optifine, I attempt to run it in java but it will not work. Instead of opening the application, an error message pops up and says "unable to launch the application". That's it.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall both optifine and java to no prevail.

The only weird thing is the java file on my desktop is named (jre-8u271-windows-x64) and has a windows defender shield icon in the lower right corner of the java icon.
