Sovietsuperman vs censorship

  1. 8 years ago

I asked Soviet last week " why red?" why not american eagles or something supportive and he answered me calmly and thoughtfully. IRL I am not a communist or a socialist but he explained that it was not communism and why the Red Army Faction is running the way it is.
I was VERY surprised to see his post about how he is attacked in game and then when he got attacked on the forum the thread was shut down... I guess I just feel like locking a thread because of disagreeing opinions is kinda ... well fascist. Which is ironic considering the topic.

In my home. IRL: I am a capitalist and a Patriot and I will not identify (here) with anything that is derisive.
In Craftymynes: I am going to try to join the Red Army. Quite frankly its the closest thing on Craftymynes that I have seen to community yet.

    Just my opinion.

@Janisdg The same rules apply on the forums as they do in the server. I shut that thread down because of the controversial nature of the arguments. As I explained to Soviet i'm glad you have your opinions, but firing up a discussion like that on the forums will get posts deleted and threads locked.

  3. Well wasn't expecting this today lol, but anyway Janisdg I surrendered my free speech on this server when I clicked accept. We all did, and in this case I'm ok with it. Real world politics tend to get in the way of what Minecraft is all about, and can cause some sticky situations for people. All the rules are in place to keep the game fun for everyone. I got carried away in a debate when I should have stopped Thank you for the support though :)

  4. I think more to the fact was people were starting to take it personally - these rules are in place for such a situation, where people take political opinions to heart and start insulting each other, fuelled by desire to prove their points. Nysic did a good job in locking up that thread as soon as it got personal, and it's good that he's taking precautions to prevent it happening more; people have proved they cannot debate without invoking ad hominem.

    Sovietsuperman vs the world

  8. I thought it was inappropriate for Soviet to even start the thread. This isn't the place for political discourse. That's just my two cents.

  9. @Dice_Boken It wasn't inherently political until you decided to join. It was a recount of what I wanted Red Army to be, how it was basically my baby on CraftyMynes, and how grateful I was to feel accepted.

  10. ^ Surely this post is in jest. No one with a minimal amount to understanding would believe that for a second.

And yes, censorship is a very bad thing. Locking a thread, especially after Soviet had his say, isn't exactly censorship though.

  11. @Dice_Boken Go back read the post, I was speaking about my own personal struggles. Nowhere did I specifically say to join my ideology. Obstructing a persons ability to get their thoughts and ideas across is censorship, it takes two seconds to look up that definition. How about you start using your resources to research what you say instead of attack someone before you know anything?

  12. You posted it fully knowing someone would call you out on it. Nobody talks about an extremely controversial topic without expecting a rebuttal.

And no one obstructed your ability to get your thoughts and ideas across.

  13. @Dice_Boken I wasn't talking about a controversial topic, I was thanking the people of this server for accepting me as I am. Also how do you know anything that goes on in my mind? My intentions? My thoughts? First you claim to know the nature of man and now you claim to know me, do tell where you get this omnipotent knowledge.

  14. Dice_Broken same rules from the server apply on the forums, be more respectful in the future plz.

  15. I deleted your post @Dice_Boken keep it civil.
