@PenguinMytyMJ why bother making shulker boxes instead of making ender chests bigger? what's the point? don't they do the same thing?
I'll explain as best I can. Unlike an enderhchest, these will have multiple, unsaved inventories. They are not player specific, so you could steal one of these, then place it down and get the items out of it. THis is great for moving to set up a new base, or several red stone machines could use these.
tbh making the enderchest bigger would also be nice
But couldn't you put shulker chest things(i forget the name lol) in ender chest to make them larger? I haven't got to play the snapshot so idk.
I guess now my shulker spawn egg will be more valuable

That would be pretty mad bc 27 space in shulker box X 27 enderchest space so if you could get 27 shulker boxes you could effectively get your enderchest space up to 729
Tfw no llama spawn eggs

For me the most interesting feature of the shulker boxes is that they can be broken by pistons, picked up/moved through hoppers, and placed by dispensers. A great feature to create storage systems where the chest of items you need can be delivered to you on request. (without having to mess around with minecarts and rails, and taking up less space)
I'm not sold on the observer block, the fact that it only detects on one side, and only outputs from the opposite side makes it more limiting than the piston BUD to my mind.
Also I really hope the BUD piston behaviour doesn't get removed.

From what I read normal piston BUD mechanics will not change
@wblaine128 From what I read normal piston BUD mechanics will not change
Phew, I was worried that they might start using the the piston mechanics from MCPE which don't have the BUD behaviour. Especially because the observer block was supposedly added to MCPE to replace the intentionally missing piston BUDs.
Oooo 1.11 yey, too inactive tho :/
basically the difference between a echest and a shulker box is that the ender chest has only one GUI for every ender chest used. in every shulker box you can put different things. (wood in one and meat in an other one as example), it can aslo be placed by dispensers as @NutjobBob says. I assume that is gonna be used for some kind of new fancy storage :D
They could be used as crafty crates! Or a way to make a package delivery system!
that's right
@wblaine128 I guess now my shulker spawn egg will be more valuable
can i pre contract some boxes with you?
@wblaine128 I guess now my shulker spawn egg will be more valuable
i have 3 so ikr !
P.s. Not selling them .
renting shulker spawners? anybody? anybody? k ill get out.
I am so excited, I already have a shulker box unloader and non stackable item sorter design!
OMFG! They're adding llamas! My life is complete!
and Llama caravans
@Venetorem and Llama caravans
Yeah! I heard about that! Llamas follow other llamas, making it a caravan
I played the snapshot yesterday all I can say is WOW like 1.11 is going to be worth the wait
i wonder if crafty will run snapshoys if he deems them stable enough for 1.11...

I don't think he will ardo

We don't tend to run snapshots due to their unpredictability. Perfect example being 1.9 when the snapshots were literally corrupting servers / crashing them for no reason.
Once a stable version is officially released we will update to it and like Crafty said we will take the server offline to tinker with the command blocks for a while.

I tried the snapshot yesterday for a couple hours to fiddle with redstone ideas. Pretty excited about the opportunities.
1. I was able to make a revised autosorter using the shulker boxes with a feature to store the boxes in a "mass storage warehouse" when they fill up and then automatically dispense a new, empty box to continue collecting. This helps to reduce the footprint of warehouses incredibly - 1 double chest chest holds 54 stacks, or if filled with shulker boxes, 1458 stacks!
2. I made a SMP friendly (I think) compact self-propelled machine vertically and horizontally. The hardest things was making a port to stop them and swap out pistons to reverse direction (which I was able to do, but more as a proof of concept), and then restart the machine - still working on a push-button switch to avoid manually starting and jumping back on. I actually stumbled onto this when trying to make an elevator using the observer blocks.
Some other things I tinkered with using redstone but not far enough to claim it's a potential design.
very nice! @Valgys
they have to nerf shulker boxes or make it harder to get, currently its OP, but very bad for organisation.
LLama caravan+god gear= no house needed
but what if hostile mobs kill your lamas, or 1 starts a fight with another... then your in trouble... all youd need is shulker boxes, an ender chest, and god gear
Plus shulker shells don't really grow on trees. They are a bit of an end game item.(pun unintended)

In theory yeah, several people have access to shulker eggs and will be milking a spawner for the shells now though I've seen

Oh never thought about that lol. But yeah you are right. They will probably sell on the market pretty cheap since a few players can mass produce them.
observerr block is GOAT
think of all the new restone possibilities!
