To be honest in some countries, for example my country: Italy our celebration is not called April's fools but April's fish, and as you should understand that isn't about pranking people at all, but rather throwing and smacking people with fake or real fish.
So it's not 100% guaranteed Everybody would've eventually figured out this was only a joke, especially if they haven't read the thread with attention and they're from different countries where they don't celebrate the same way you do!
