Disapointment

  1. 8 years ago

I have to say i'm very disappointed with the casino so far and with the hostile reactions of those who like it against those that don't. more so i'm disappointed with the current state of affairs on CraftyMynes. We have a tpa system which was said was never going to happen by crafty himself, and the only reason i've been given is that it was due to popular request. sure it could be said that if i don't like it no one is forcing me to use it but that's not the point to me. the point with that is that now those who don't want to use it for whatever reason( i don't bc to me it takes away from the survival aspect of the game as does nether roof travel) are now at a disadvantage against those who use the system. for example, if raided those who use the system can tp players they are teamed with to their location to aid them bringing with them more swords and possibly pots or other combat related items, in other words they can turn the fight around in an instant, while those who don't are at a disadvantage even if it's a self imposed one. to summarize that point: it was stated that there never would be a tpa , now there is a tpa, and people who don't like it or want to use it are screwed. beyond the tpa system there are many things that take away from the "survival" part of the experience many of which i like and many i don't. one of which is nether roof travel but yet again due to popular opinion my opinion won't matter. now next thing is what happened to the no begging rule? im ever so annoyed by people who join and are given starter gear and either lose it or feel it's not enough and begin asking for more. i'm not gonna begin to go into depth of why the rule should be reinstated bc it should be obvious. next point is about the casino and the command blocks used in it. now this is more of a question than anything, what effect do command blocks have on the server? do they cause lag? is it just a negligible amount per command block? how taxing on the server are they? more or less if the answer is anything other than they don't affect the server at all in anyway other than the actions they perform which even with all the command blocks the server has don't slow the server down at all then i can't see the justification for the casino which from what i see uses a large deal of command blocks, and is essentially a really tacky looking(sorry to those who worked on it but i dislike how it looks and i'm just giving my honest opinion here) vote slots 2.0. anyways i realize this is a very long rant about things i don't like about the server but there's also a great deal of things i love about the server and i don't want this to be construed in any way as me complaining so much as just giving my opinion and feedback. pls avoid any hostile remarks about this post, if you disagree or have different opinions fine but pls try to refrain from attacking me directly or from attacking my opinion, present your opinion and or argument and present it as such. thank you for taking the time to read this and for being a part of this great server community.

  4. Lots of great points I agree with.

  5. @Loganthecaveman i can't see the justification for the casino which from what i see uses a large deal of command blocks, and is essentially a really tacky looking(sorry to those who worked on it but i dislike how it looks and i'm just giving my honest opinion here) vote slots 2.0.

I agree with this the colors are very abstract and very random and leaves distaste probably the main thing bothering me I thought I was the only one lol I didn't want to come out rude after all it's just a color pallet not going to fucking murder me in my sleep but atmosphere is Kinda important when enjoying something?

I don't think that I ever said I was never going to make a TPA, but it got to the point where I couldn't get on the server without someone asking me if I was going to make one. Adding a TPA grows the community by allowing players who otherwise would not be able to play together without making a long walk or only seeing each other at spawn. On the server list you need to stay competitive, 3 years ago when I developed this server, I was one of the first to have a Home/Warp/Spawn system, that set us apart and brought us traffic, other servers noticed and also made home systems, the servers without them stayed at 5-10 players max. I'm always trying to develop new and interesting things that set our server apart, there was "ServerPlz" that was then upgraded to ServerAI, there is all the ingame command block tech, the community orientated forum, stats page, head drops and more. TPA was just one of the things that is almost required to be a high ranking server, I feel that our implementation is the least obtrusive it could be, there is no ".tpa" spam in chat, no numbers on the tab list and it's not even on the first page of the book.

All of the command blocks in the casino are only activated when a player uses them, they are all outside of the spawn chunks and cause an imperceptible amount of lag if any.

The reason you are seeing hostility from those who built/were apart of building the casino is that they have spent over 6 months dedicating their time building it and creating the 100's of trades and machines by hand.

Everyone has a different building style, I prefer a clean look while some like the abstract look. A quick google search for casino's show that the predominant build style/color pallet is abstract and colorful.

While listening to beggars sucks, I don't feel that there should be a rule against it. As long as staff are not giving items from creative mode to beggars I'm fine. If someone wants to help out a new player, good on them.

    Im happy with the casino

  8. Y'know... this irks me, and I'm not even staff. Real, living, breathing individuals with LIVES have spent 6 months (guys, that's half a fricken' year) working on a project for US to use. I mean, maybe it's just me, but it feels beyond insulting to complain about something that was done for our benefit. I see people complaining that it's too realistic and that just blows my mind. The casino wasn't built as a "get rich quick" system; it's supposed to be used to get a few random gifts as thank you's to our dedication to the server (by playing and voting). I just cannot believe some of the backlash that is happening in regards to this project.

You have to admit, without a TPA system, most players would quit. I don't understand how having a TPA system affects the survival aspect that much in the game. It's almost necessary to have for multiple people that base together, and to make any real progress in the game. I will agree that the Nether Roof TPA is way OP but I also like that it is a feature made available to those who donate--it seems only fair to have a few perks for putting money into the server.

  9. Nothing wrong with a bit of feed back and criticism If it didn't exist in a multi community similarly like this it could be way less enjoyable for only one point of view to rule. That's what this thread is about it's not intended to "Bash" at anyone No one is screaming death threats lmfao. People are just trying to open pathways to points of views and what the majority think about it I mean if a large amount of people are not happy about something what do you do? Are they really assholes for expressing something? I'm honestly not complaining about the overall project but when a crowd has similar opinions about something that's not bad, feedback is just there to improve on a work of art to make it even more great than it is. I can understand the emotional set of the hard work trust me I sometimes don't like to be criticized by my artwork plain to my face because of the emotion and time I placed unless I ask for it, however if I had a stubborn point of view and never improved in my art and never took tips from other artists it wouldn't be as good as it is now.

  11. I don't think the casino is that bad... At least you can get free stuff... and this is what the Crafty coins were for anyways.

The casino is for fun not profit, kind of like irl casinos (imo)

my main problem with the casino has nothing to do with the items it gives so much as it's basically the same thing as the vote slots. it has nothing to do with the items it gives or "get rich quick" it's that i've been waiting a long time and i am disappointed so far that's all. now as for the tpa does not affect the survival aspect that much in the game. i strongly disagree, for me it damn near kills it entirely. its not necessary in any way for people to base together or to make real progress in the game. people did it for over a year on CM before the tp came to be, it's just laziness imo. people cry about having to walk 20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100k to get to their base mate but that's why it's worth it for me, bc i made a long journey to get to live with this person and it's an investment of my time so the rewards are all the better for me, i currently live with someone and even though we have a tpa now i made them walk bc for me if they aren't willing to make that effort then they aren't worth my time and effort. the journey requires you to survive, find or bring food, fight mobs, etc. that's what survival is in minecraft so to skip that part entirely is to skip most of the survival aspect of the game. now moving on to the nether roof part. it's not just the nether roof tp i dislike, it's that people are allowed to use the nether roof for travel at all. i know this opinion isn't one alot of people share but its still my opinion. to get on the nether roof (assuming you're not a vip or vip+) you have to exploit a glitch, an aspect of gaming i dislike with a passion. exploiting glitches is tantamount to cheating for me and i can't stand it(yes i'm the type of gamer who never cheats, never uses mods, etc.) the nether roof is the only glitch allowed to be exploited and that also really irks me. so far like i said before the only reason the tpa system is around is because of popular request and that's fine and all but it really suck if you're not one of the people who share that opinion. what's more is people then tell you that if you don't like it nobody's forcing you to stay like that's a solution to your problem. i don't want to leave and beyond that even if i did, it's a popular opinion elsewhere as well if not everywhere and i'm left with the options of no longer playing minecraft multiplayer, making my own server, dealing with it and playing anyway. out of those options the only remotely appealing(or possible for that matter) is dealing with it and i still don't like that option. i don't want to stop playing minecraft at all i love the game and this server and its community, i can't even start my own server i barely have the money to support my living expenses and have a little left over for myself and even then i don't always have that extra. besides the money part i dont have the technically know how to properly run one. so i deal with it and give my opinion on what frustrates me when i can. also idk whether the complaining part was directed at me or not but i said in my above post that i'm not trying to complain i'm just giving my honest opinion about things that's all i do appreciate all the work that went into the casino and more so the server itself but that doesn't change how i feel about things.

  13. @Loganthecaveman

The thing about disapointment is that it's an internal issue!
You can only get disapointed if you create high expectations. Thats a personal problem.
    It's impossible to please everybody.
This is a free service (and one of the best ones i've ever encountered), we can just login and use the infraestructure provided by Crafty and the rest of the Staff.
I always felt that they make an effort to please the majority of the community and to keep the server fresh and interesting.

The hype around the casino doesn't force u to think it's gonna be awesome, made just as u think it will, to please your taste or to fit your needs.
It's just an extra Bonus on an already great and free service.

Not even saying that I like it or not, just offering a another point of view.

    In short:
Some people had to dislike the design, that's just how people work. And that's ok.
But I belive that its more important to give constructive critics that to share disapointment!
Your brain makes u be disapointed cause you thought it would be different.
I know that because i waited the same amout of time you did, and i've been in the Casino twice since it opened. Its not my favorite thing... and its not suposed to be.
I see it as a gift to the community. And to gifts i say thanks! I dont go like - aww that gift?? i thought you were gonna give me the other one that i fancy more!!!

But hey, we are all diferent so..

Ohh, i get your points on the TP, but Crafty makes a better argument there.
They need to keep the server on the top spots and because of this effort, this community grows stronger! Thats how i found it!

Please dont take this the wrong way.
    It's also just an opinion

    G'day Myners.

I've kept pretty quiet on this issue so far but I'm going to shed some light on the situation. The Casino recently after we released it has become a point of controversy, some people love it, some dislike it and some have no opinion one way or the other. This however is actually the 3rd Casino that that we have built.

The first one started back on the old server and never really took off. Once the update came that forced our hand with the new map it was lost to the ages along with all the systems that were developed for it. With the overhaul of how command blocks were done new systems had to be invented, thus we enter development of the second Casino.

The second Casino was started shortly after things were settled with the new map, along with discussions (hours and hours) of prizes, preventions for gaming the systems and implementation. Originally the concept was when you won a prize you would be teleported to a prize room with your winnings and select a prize. For this we faced a multitude of problems with abuse for which we tried many methods of prevention. After months of work along with design issues and potential exploits it was decided we'd start again.

So along came Casino version 3. This version of the Crafty Casino was simple in design, a big open area lots of games, tonnes of prizes and none of the issues that the second casino faces. Both Baron and Rnc poured alot of their free time into this casino along with many hours again of discussion for Vendors, prizes and the rest. By this point we are now 3 versions in and each has had a new command block overhaul.

So what we have eventually arrived at is a project a very very long time in the making. Expectations for a project this long in the making are naturally going to be quite high, leaving many people disappointed. This frustration is vented and the people who have been poured time into this project are naturally taken aback by it.

By no means are we saying it was a perfect release, things didn't work quite the way that was intended and we rushed to fix problems as we were made aware of them. I myself broke 5 of the slot machines within 2 hours of the casinos release pending changes. Spending a further 7 hours across the same day with my head buried in lines of commands. The next day the roulette machines were changed, causing unrest within our player base but again a nessecary change, as they too were not working as intending.

This all aside we do listen to you guys, we hear your concerns, your ideas, your griefs and feedback. We've run tests, engaged in discussions and arrived at various solutions for issues arising.

Even now construction is under way on the second floor of the Casino. New games are in development and command block design has already started.  There are an overwhelming ammount of ideas we would like to implement and we will try our hardest to achieve them. You'll also notice that spawn too is currently undergoing a revamp as well. All these things we are doing to continually improve your experience on the server.

We would love your continued feedback, ideas and support going forward and together we can achieve something great. If players wish to make a post about how upset they are, that's fine too, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would simply ask that on top of the words of critism, maybe add some suggestions for improvement. You could even add some words of encouragement/appreciation to those spending countless hours working on this project and many others like it.

Wonderful response and write up. I think we can all agree that us the players within the Craftymynes community appreciate all the hard work and dedication that the staff puts into the server and our experience. And we can understand the frustration that staff members may feel towards those that offer criticism.

I've already made my concerns heard in another thread, by doing so i'm sure to have rubbed at least a few staff members the wrong way. Nothing new for me and i certainly do apologize if i angered anyone. However, at the risk more issues i'll propose that staff reduce the amount of slot machines down to 10 instead of 30. Have each slot machine with a admin weapon and change them up once a week as i believe is already occurring. This would allow at least a few players the opportunity of receiving an admin weapon as well as create more room on the first floor for more games. I would also suggest lowering the cost of buying craftycoins from the casino. Prior to the casino release i bought craftycoins at 1 diamond per coin. Through many various trades i gained a total of roughly 20 stacks of coins. I'm not suggesting the casino sell them for the same price, only that staff take this into consideration. I would suggest maybe 3 or 4 d per coin.

Im sorry, but you're telling me that you want us to trash 6 months of work just so you can get the collectables easier?
And absolutely not on the cheaper prices since they already exist, you just haven't bothered exploring.

  19. I wish the heads were cheaper. 2 stacks of coins is not worth it.

You ask us to provide you with suggestions and this the response i get. What happened to,"We would love your continued feedback, ideas and support going forward and together we can achieve something great."
Where's the conversation? This is just a slap in the face. Why are you attacking me for making a suggestion as requested? You obviously don't want feed back, and after this post i will say nothing more about the casino.

I wasn't aware it took staff 6 months to make the 20 slot machines i suggest to be removed. However, my guess is perhaps under 10 players on the server even have the coins to get one of these collectables at this time.

I wasn't aware coins were being sold in the casino for 3-4 diamonds per coin. If, so it's a recent change. I'll go look now.

Edit: Ok, so took a trip to the casino. Yes, i see the price has recently changed to 4.5 diamonds per coin. I believe that is a much more reasonable price for the craftymynes community.
