My Resource Pack!

  1. 8 years ago

So if you haven't been living under a block of stone, you may have noticed that I haven't been active in a few days. I had a reason for that.

I have been working on a resource pack designed to simplify Minecraft's textures for a potato PC. I was somewhat inspired by OCD, but I didn't like a lot of their changes.

I call it 'KeepItSimple', and it is still currently in development (~50% done with blocks, haven't touched anything else)

Here are some pictures of spawn in its current form:

  2. beware of this texture pack, its possible to use it to get your coords

  3. This is a nice texture pack. Do you also made something for the animated blocks (e.g. sea lanterns, rough prismarine). Ive been searching forever for a good texture for those blocks.

@TheForgotten20 This is of spawn, bro

  5. @_Drachenzorn_ This is a nice texture pack. Do you also made something for the animated blocks (e.g. sea lanterns, rough prismarine). Ive been searching forever for a good texture for those blocks.

    I'm getting there @_Drachenzorn_ !

  6. Prismarine and Sea Lanterns added!

The 32x32 textures will not help performance... If anything they will make it worse.

  8. download my resource pack instead! i have zelda sounds!

@_Haxington_ The 32x32 textures will not help performance... If anything they will make it worse.

why is that? wouldnt less detailed textures make it easier to run due to the fact that the gpu (be it part if the cpu or seperate) has less things to render

Felt the need to confirm this to ensure the point is heard.
Using a 32x32 resource pack will actually decrease performance over the default 16x16 pack.

thank you for explaining why, didnt realize that default was 16x16

I changed the title of this thread to avoid confusion as we don't endorse any particular resource packs.

The thread itself is fine just the wording of the title needed to change.

Does like everyone have a crappy pc? lol

  14. @CactusOwnage Does like everyone have a crappy pc? lol

    Yes. Yes we do.

    Well...

  16. @_Confederacy_ Yes. Yes we do.

    Cant be that bad..

20-30fps is smooth for me :)

    Optifine doesn't help much.

  18. lol

I get around 100 fps with most Ultra shaders packs xD

MC crashes with most shader packs for me :)

I think many people play Minecraft because it so is so light on resources. I have noticed over my long time playing that most player seem to have weak or old pics incapable of running most games.

It's important to note texture rendering is exponential,
a 32x32 pack uses approximately 4 times the raw resources of a 16x package so on. GPUs do things to reduce this usage but there's definitely a large difference.

    True

  24. @ardoasms thank you for explaining why, didnt realize that default was 16x16

    Isnt it 8x8?

  25. Default texture pack is 16x16

  26. @CactusOwnage I get around 100 fps with most Ultra shaders packs xD

But you have a good pc

  27. i could probably pull off 64x64 or even 128x128 with shaders with my system, not weak at all

  28. the texture is good! but 32x32 is not helping the performance of your pc

Ok, according to feedback, I have an idea:

I will release 2 Texture Packs:

    1. 16x16
    2. 32x32

This way people that enjoy the pack can run it on lower end PCs.

Personally I don't think it matters much but *sigh* oh well

  30. so, I take this trhead as an opportunity to show my 1.5 version of my texture, link in the bottom

my resource pack is a 16x16 that tweaks the default version.
I took inspiration from other textures and finished it on my own, you'll need optifine and mcpatcher for a better experience

  31. @HaloNest Very nice texture pack. Can you maybe change the inventory you showed in the image a bit? Its just looks so weird. Maybe add an thicker border or something.

  32. Will do @CactusOwnage

  33. I'll download it soon :)

    CURRENT 32x32 TEXTURES NOW AVAILABLE!

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2j3oSwnjbh8d2hDdzRYaWdoQkE

To download, click the arrow next to the folder name, then click Download. Put it in your Resource PAck folder which you can access in-game and try it out!

Not every texture is complete - incomplete textures borrowed from another pack.

EDIT: Does NOT work with connected textures, last time I checked. I would turn them off just in case, but if you have them on, they should be fine. Just note that eg glass wont be smooth.

  35. Should I download all of them, or is there one main download?

  36. Edited 8 years ago by TheForgotten20

@HaloNest purpur should be more purple, its like tiles so it should be more defined in colour. also your glowstone looks disgusting. everything else is good. the main thing i dontlike about yours is how you fade every colour

  37. Edited 8 years ago by HaloNest

feel free to modify the texture and send me your version @TheForgotten20

  38. @HaloNest Do you use some kind of special software for making those textures or are you just using paint?

  39. Please make a 512x512 one :P
